Claire Oakley is a director and screenwriter. Her debut feature, MAKE UP, is a 'poetically teasing and psychologically precise' [Robbie Collins, The Telegraph] coming-of-age drama that plays hypnotically with genre. Starring Bafta-winner Molly Windsor and produced by Quiddity Films, BFI, BBC Films and Creative England, it was released to critical acclaim by Curzon Artificial Eye in 2020.
Claire's award-winning short films explore themes of identity and place with an atmospheric visual style. She is developing her next features with the BFI and BBC Films and is writing a TV series set in Wales. In 2014, Claire co-founded Cinesisters, a mentoring group for female-identifying directors which now has over 200 members.
